Medium, You have put me in a panic
Since the rules have changed regarding payments on medium, I have been in a bit of a slump. Now I am not saying that medium caused this, but I think it is linked and here is why…
I am fairly new to medium, only writing on here for around three months. I have gained a few followers and for that I am extremely grateful. Especially as they aren’t all friends I have coerced into joining medium specifically to follow me. Oh come on, you do it too!
Anyway, the clap system was not perfect. I would consistently tell my followers (friends and family) that they could clap 50 times and sometimes they would forget to clap at all. But then rave about how wonderful my writing is in person. Doh! But, at least I understood it.
But now I am completely at a loss. I know I am not the only one as the groups I am part of are all fervently discussing the demise of their income since the new rules came into play.
It would appear to most of us that Medium is now saying that short stories and poems are not worth as much as longer pieces. This seems to most of us to be a tad unfair, to say the least. While I appreciate the value of long posts, after all I am a novelist, I also appreciate the value of shorter ones and don’t think it is fair that they are devalued due to length.
